Livermore American Little League
Diamondbacks 9, A's 8: Josh Goldstein led the Diamondbacks' offense with a three-run triple. Brett Oelrich added two hits and an RBI, and Gage Rohrbacker made a nice pop fly catch in left field.
Diamondbacks vs Yankees: Once again, the Diamondbacks' Hayden Henry was stellar on the mound. Henry struck out three batters and held the Yankees scoreless for four innings. Cameron Angotti made two great defensive plays, while Jacob Kelleher caught a tough pop fly and Michal West made two putouts at second base. Jonathan Lindberg and Dominic Gozzo led the Diamondbacks offense with solid hits to the outfield.
Pirates vs. Red Sox: Every Red Sox player contributed a hit as the offense was hitting on all cylinders against the Pirates. Corey Stimpson led the offense with a home run, and Justin Peterson was the defensive standout. For the Pirates, Cameron Adriaens and Ben Rho combined for a double play on first, and Tyler Caloleira made a great play at short stop.
Red Sox vs Diamondbacks: For the Red Sox, Jordan Dennett earned the game ball for pitching a shutout inning and for making a sliding catch on the short pop up. Jonathan Lindberg and Hayden Henry made three remarkable plays in the field. For the Diamondbacks, Michal West struck out the side with the bases-loaded. Jacob Kelleher and West contributed doubles, and Thomas Schnapp, Timothy Cowan, Jonathan Lindberg and Luca Montalvo added base hits. Pitchers, Coby Elola and Jacob Kelleher finished the game in dominant fashion.
Giants vs. Yankees: For the Giants, Nathan Nagenast had a great defensive play at first base and was awarded the game ball. Jacob Woods, Shane Pollard and Ray Castillo contributed hits and scored runs. Isaac Romero was named MVP for his pitching performance. For the Yankees, Caleb Penner had an RBI double and teammates Brayden Blacklock, James Florey, Noah Roe and Lukas Stifter added base hits and drove in runs. Pitcher Riley Scott had a strong outing.
A's vs. Rangers: For the A's, Hayden Druba contributed several hits and recorded two outs at pitcher. Mason Caldeira went a perfect 4 for 4 and displayed heads up defense at first base and shortstop.
Cubs vs Astros: For the Cubs, Joseph Bellah hit his first home run of the season and pitcher, Koy Trane, made two unbelievable throws for outs. For the Astros, catcher Caleb Baker tagged out two runners at home and Raul Moreno had an RBI double.
The Livermore Lazers hosted another water polo tournament April 13-14. The Livermore teams combined for an 8-1 record.
The co-ed beginners team picked up two wins. In the first game against 680, goals were scored by Christian Webb, Noah Petit, Robert Sutter and Natali Dallos. The team's second win was a 13-4 victory over SOMA with Natali Dallos scoring a majority of Livermore's goals.
Good defense and an outstanding effort by Emily Hawkins led the Level 1 Lazers to a 7-6 victory over Ellis. Talia Florio led all scorers and Mia Battilega, Miara Pipe and Maddie David also contributed goals. Against Oakwood, the Lazers showcased their teamwork with a 12-4 victory, thanks to goals scored by almost the entire team and great defense by Calvin David and Emily Hawkins. The Level 1 team finished the tournament with a 2-1 record.
The Level 2 Boys finished 3-0. Teams 680, Olympic and Stockton could not stop the Lazers offensive attack. Every player contributed towards the win with an exceptional performance turned in by Sean Croghan, Jack Miller, Zac Corbishley and Nathan Fish. David Brooks, Calvin David and Fish put forth an outstanding defensive effort. Goalie Scott Ragatz recorded several stops.
The Livermore Lazers host the next tournament at Robert Livermore Community Center on April 27.
