Granada enjoys 16th victory in a row

  • Anthony Olmo tossed 51/3 shutout innings, and the Granada High baseball team scored three times in the sixth inning to beat Monte Vista 4-1 on April 19 and improve to 16-0 overall and 6-0 in the East Bay Athletic League. The Matadors overcame five errors in the tense game. Dan Whitney was 2 for 2, and Vince Fernandez had two RBI for the Matadors. Sophomore Charles Zaloumis was 1 for 3 with a run scored for the Mustangs.

    Dons win baseball thriller over Wolves

  • Austin Piscotty had an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Amador Valley baseball team a thrilling 1-0 win over visiting San Ramon Valley on April 19. Dons senior Michael Echavia tossed a one-hitter with three strikeouts, improving his record to 5-1. He won a pitchers' duel against the Wolves' Alex Barden, who scattered five hits and struck out five. Amador's Nick McGillivray was 2 for 3.

    Vikings' Dalrymple fires no-hitter

  • Valley Christian's Jared Dalrymple tossed a no-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks as the Vikings beat Athenian 12-5 in a five-inning game in the Bay Counties League-East on April 19. Vince Volpatti and Will Cantrell each had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for the winners, who improved to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in league.

    Amador Valley knocks off Monte Vista

  • The Amador Valley girls lacrosse team stayed hot with a 19-6 win over Monte Vista on April 19 as senior Justin Chinn had five goals and Jackie Gilbert added four goals.

    SRV sweeps Carondelet, Foothill

  • San Ramon Valley's Christine Bayliss won the 1,600 meter race in a time 5 minutes, 15.65 seconds, and the Wolves' Carly Lutz edged out Bayliss in the 3,200 for first place, helping the Wolves sweep EBAL meets against Carondelet and Foothill on April 18.

    California upsets Amador Valley

  • The California softball team upended Amador Valley 1-0 in a battle of state powers on April 16 and moved into sole possession of first place in the EBAL. Winning pitcher Lindsey Chalmers tossed a six-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks. Jessica Catson drove in Kwyn Cooper, who tripled, with what proved to be the winning run in the bottom of the first. California, which also beat Foothill 5-0 on April 18, entered the week with a 13-3 overall mark and 6-0 in league.

  • Monte Vista at California, softball, April 15, 4 p.m. -- The Grizzlies, led by ace Lindsey Chalmers, will look to quiet the powerful Mustangs lineup and remain alone in first place in the EBAL.

  • McKayla Saavedra, Granada softball -- Saavedra was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs as the Matadors bested Carondelet 6-3 in EBAL action on April 16.

  • Jacob Payne, Granada baseball -- Payne fired a five-hit shutout as the Matadors earned an important 4-0 win over De La Salle on April 17 to remain unbeaten overall.

  • Ashley Weiler, Livermore softball -- Weiler fired a perfect game and went 3 for 4 as the Cowboys beat Carondelet 7-0 on April 18 in EBAL action.

  • Adam Pendergraft, Monte Vista swimming -- Pendergraft prevailed in the 100 butterfly in 53.73 seconds and took part on two winning relays, helping the Mustangs get an exciting 93-90 win over De La Salle in the EBAL.

  • Katherine Tomsic, Monte Vista softball -- Tomsic was 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored, helping the Mustangs beat Granada 3-0 on April 18.
