DVC announces 2013 Hall of Fame class

The Diablo Valley College Hall of Fame will induct its class of 2013 in a ceremony to be held Feb. 21, 2013 at DVC's Norseman Restaurant.

Here is the class of honorees.

ANTHONY SPEARS, football -- Spears earned All-American honors at Diablo Valley from 1985-86, and All-American honors at Portland State from 1987-88. He played for the Houston Oilers in 1989.

GERALD PRICE, baseball -- Price was an all-Golden Gate Conference selection as an infielder in 1976-77 and was the starting second baseman on DVC's 1977 state championship team. He was a member of USC's national title winning team in 1978, and was twice selected in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft.

PETER FAIGL, tennis -- Faigl won the 1994 Golden Gate Conference singles title and the 1995 Bay Valley Conference singles title. He went on to play for and graduate from James Madison University.

VERONICA CAMPBELL, water polo/swimming -- Campbell earned All-American honors and was named Big 8 Conference MVP in 2006. As a swimmer, she earned All-American marks in seven events to help lead the Vikings to a state title in 2007. She went on to lead all Division I goalkeepers in saves while at Cal State Bakersfield in 2008.

BRENT SMITH, basketball -- Smith was an all-state selection for the 1993-94 and 94-95 seasons. He played two seasons at the University of Montana and one year professionally

in Europe.

GAYLORD BRYAN, multi-sport coach -- Bryan coached four sports at East Contra Costa Junior College/DVC from 1952-89. He led ECCJC to its first-ever conference titles in men's basketball (1954-56). He also coached track, cross country and softball at DVC and is a member of the Stanford Hall of Fame for track.
