Pajama Time: 6:30-7:15 p.m. July 23, Aug. 6. Kids ages 5-11 can come in their pajamas and listen to a story and participate in a craft on the first, second and fourth Mondays of the month.

Ice Cream Workshop: 3-4 p.m. July 30. Kids and middle school students can learn the easy way to make ice cream. Participants should bring their appetites. Registration is required by 4 p.m. July 28 for the free workshop.

Zoomobile Goes Wild @ Martinez Library! 2-3 p.m. Aug. 13. Kids ages 5-11 and middle school students can meet and greet the animals from the Oakland Zoo's Zoomobile for the end-of-summer party and the wind up of the Summer Reading Festival.

Zoomobile: 2:30 p.m. July 28. Kids ages 5-11 can get up close and pet most of the small animals on show when the Oakland Zoomobile comes to the library. Animal experts will relate facts about the critters.

Lego & Listen: 3-4 p.m. Aug. 1. Kids ages 5-11 can make a Lego creation while listening to an audiobook.

Moonlight Movie: "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial": 8:30-10:30 p.m. Aug. 3. The library partners with Pleasant Hill Recreation and invites all ages to watch a movie on the City Hall lawn, 100 Gregory Lane. Those attending can bring chairs, blankets or towels.

Pleasant Hill Teen Advisory Group (TAG) is PHUN: 3:30-5 p.m. Aug. 8. Now called the PHUN Team -- Pleasant Hill United Nerds Team invites teens ages 13-18 to meet other teens and the young adult librarian every second Wednesday of the month in Room A to share and plan what they want to see happen in the library.

Contra Costa Teen Chess Club: 3-5 p.m. Fridays. Students 12-17 can get instruction and participate in friendly matches and tournaments. Games are in the Baldwin Room and participants who have them are encouraged to bring their own chess board and pieces.

Annual Book Give-Away: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 16-31 (closed Sundays). The Contra Costa County Library is giving away used books that have been removed from the library collection. Books are located at the shipping and receiving parking lot, 75 Santa Barbara Road, Pleasant Hill. Bring your own boxes or bags.

Pleasant Hill Library Book Club: 6:30 p.m. in Room A. On Aug. 21, the discussion will be on Rebecca Skloot's "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks."

English Conversation Practice for Adults: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Adults can practice speaking and listening to English in a casual group run by the library staff and volunteers.

Doorstep Farmers: 5-7 p.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 9. Pick up a box of organic fruits and vegetables every week at the library by signing up with Doorstep Farmers, a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) service supporting local agriculture and sustainable healthy living. Battery Recycling: Recycle dead batteries in the collection bins at the library's Green Zone.

Las Juntas Artists Association: In partnership with the library, each month the group exhibits the works of different artists during regular library hours. In July, the watercolor paintings of Judi Visscher will be on display.
