SAN RAMON -- Police have issued an arrest warrant for a fourth suspect wanted in connection with a botched jewelry store robbery in which one of the suspects was shot and killed by the shop owner.
Michael L. Porter, 20, of Hayward is wanted on a $300,000 warrant for robbery, false imprisonment and conspiracy in connection with the May 30 attempted robbery of the Gold N Treasures jewelry store on San Ramon Valley Boulevard, police said.
Four men stormed the store just before closing time and confronted store owner Everett Parvin, 61, who was armed with a gun and shot 18-year-old suspected robber Kibrom Bairu, 18, of Hayward.
Bairu stumbled into busy San Ramon Valley Boulevard, where paramedics picked him up and took him to an area hospital, where he later died. Parvin was not arrested and does not face criminal charges because he acted in self-defense, police said.
A few days after the incident, police arrested another robbery suspect, 22-year-old Gregory Jamal Lewis in Hayward; he was later charged by the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office with murder and three counts of armed robbery. Police later arrested a third suspect, Krishneel Prasad, 19, of Hayward, and he too faces charges of murder and three counts of robbery.
Both remained jailed at the Martinez jail without bail.
