Egan
Riley Patrick Egan, 17, the son of Nancy Egan, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which was presented in Court of Honor ceremonies Aug. 18, at Church of the Resurrection in Pleasant Hill.
He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 405, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Michael McDowell.
For his Eagle Scout community service project, Egan built a "high plank," a wooden structure used to train Federal Emergency Management Agency search and rescue canines. He coordinated with Ashby Lumber to donate the lumber for the project.
During his Scouting career, Egan earned 28 merit badges, camped 86 nights, hiked 224 miles and worked 82.5 service hours. Additionally, he served as a senior patrol leader, troop guide, troop scribe, and two terms each as historian and patrol leader.
Egan, of Martinez, is a senior at Alhambra High School.
