Vikings get over the hump
The Diablo Valley College football team picked up its first win of the season with a 44-20 win over visiting Chabot on Sept. 21. Quinn Kaehler threw for an outrageous 490 yards and five touchdowns and Diante Jackson was the main beneficiary as he caught 11 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns. The win pushed Diablo Valley's record to 1-3 and got the Vikings over the hump after a string of narrow losses.-- Ben Enos
Eagles continue to roll
The Clayton Valley High football team continued to put up huge numbers on the scoreboard, playing rude host to Liberty with a 58-19 win on Sept. 21. Cesar Luengas led the way, rushing for 177 yards and a touchdown. Joe Protheroe added 139 yards rushing, 37 yards receiving and two touchdowns. And Mikey Protheroe threw for two scores and rushed for another. The win was Clayton Valley's third straight, and left the Eagles 3-1.-- Ben Enos
Berean earns dramatic win
The Berean Christian High football team earned a thrilling 28-27 victory over St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Sept. 22 when Aaron Alexander caught a 74-yard touchdown pass with two seconds left, then caught the two-point conversion. The Eagles' Ethan Anderson rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns in the comeback victory.
