AHS Arts Foundation fundraisers at Kinder's
The Alhambra High School Arts Foundation will host a fundraiser at two Kinder's restaurants from 8:30 a.m. until closing Friday, Sept. 28, and Saturday, Sept. 29. The events will benefit the art, drama and music classes.
For diners who present the school flier at Kinder's at 536 Center Ave. in Martinez, and at 2227 Morello Ave. in Pleasant Hill, Kinder's will donate 15 percent of purchases.

Clayton Valley to hold homecoming activities
Clayton Valley Charter High School is holding its Homecoming Week activities through Sept. 29, with a student lunch, rally and pre-homecoming football game festivities and king and queen coronation, and dance.
The spirit week theme is MCV -- based on MTV shows and music aired on the channel -- and the rally theme is MCV Video Music Awards.
Special homecoming lunch activities for students will be held Sept. 27, on campus, followed by a homecoming rally during fourth period on Sept. 28, for students and staff members.

Tickets are on sale until Sept. 27, and are $22 (or $17 with an ASB sticker) if purchased on campus at brunch, lunch or after school.
The cost is $17 ($12 with ASB sticker) if purchased on the web store. Students much show their ASB sticker to pick up tickets after a web store purchase.
Back to school nights continue at campuses
The final back to school nights are scheduled at two campuses in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, according to the school district website.

Football, food fundraiser will benefit FPHE grants
Magoo's Grill of Pleasant Hill is teaming up with Foundation for Pleasant Hill Education for Football Fundraiser for Education from 5 to 9 p.m. every Sunday and Monday through Dec. 23.
Participants can visit Magoo's, 1250 Contra Costa Blvd. in Pleasant Hill, to watch the game, have appetizers and dinner, and have Magoo's donate 25 percent of food sales to the FPHE grant program.
On Oct. 29 and Nov. 19, 50 percent of food sales will benefit the educational foundation. Additionally, former San Francisco 49er Dan Colchico will be visiting Oct. 29.

Since 2009, FPHE has awarded $120,000 to Pleasant Hill public schools.
Helen Diller Foundation calls for nominations
Nominations are open for the Helen Diller Family Foundation Teen Tikkun Olam Awards, identifying Jewish teens whose volunteer service projects demonstrate a determined commitment to make the world a better place.
Up to 10 teens, five from California and five from across the country, will each receive an award of $36,000, to be used to further their philanthropic work or their education.

Families sought to host exchange students
Host families are needed for incoming foreign exchange high school students. Students are 15-18 years old, are English-speaking, have their own spending money and carry health insurance.
Families can consist of a single parent, a childless couple or a retired couple.
Host families are eligible to claim a monthly charitable contribution deduction on their itemized tax returns for each month they host a sponsored student.
