Granting wishes a sweet treat

A special guest at the Cold Stone Creamery store in Pleasant Hill on Sept. 27, for the company's daylong ice cream social to benefit Make-A-Wish, will be 7-year-old Zachary Payne. The Concord boy, who has T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, will act as a "wish ambassador" from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. when Cold Stone Creamery locations across the Bay Area and the nation donate $1 for every purchase of a "Love It" or "Gotta Have It" sized ice cream. The annual event is dubbed the World's Largest Ice Cream Social, and Cold Stone has raised more than $4 million for Make-A-Wish in 10 years. The Pleasant Hill store is located at 60 Crescent Drive, Suite J. For more information and additional store locations, visit www.coldstonecreamery.com.
