All Contra Costa County library branches offer programs for children, teens, adults and families. All branches will be closed Nov. 11-12 for the observance of Veterans Day, and will close at 6 p.m. Nov. 21 and all day Nov. 22, for Thanksgiving.   • At the Martinez Library, Story Time programs are free.

    Mother Goose Time: 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Nov. 6. For babies and toddlers, ages 0-5, it features songs, bounces, tickles and simple stories.

    Family Night Stories and Special Events: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays through Nov. 5 (no session Oct. 15). Kids can come in their pajamas to listen to a story and enjoy a special event.

    Meet the Candidates Story Time: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 22. At Family Night Stories and Special Events, preschoolers and kids can make their vote for Fancy Nancy and Fly Guy, or the Pigeon and Olivia, or Frog and Toad? Kids will meet the candidates and hear their stories as well as make campaign buttons and posters. Participants will cast their ballot in a genuine ballot box and find out who the winner will be.

    Lights Out Halloween! 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 29. Preschoolers and kids can dress in costume, bring a light stick, listen to scary stories and prepare one to tell around the bubbling cauldron of witches brew. There will be games and crafts and spooky fun for the whole family.

    Halloween Origami: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 30. Kids up to grade 8 can fold up some tricks and treats with origami artist Charles Esseltine. Best for upper elementary or middle school students, but younger children welcome with a caregiver.

    Teen Fine Forgiveness Read-In: noon-3 p.m. Oct. 20. In celebration of Teen Read Week, teens can come for a "read-in" for one hour at designated times to earn fine forgiveness and "Start a New Chapter@the Library." Some exclusions apply, including accounts with missing items or those sent for collection are not eligible. Teens will need to provide photo ID and their library card.

    Mother Goose Time: 11:15-11:45 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays; and also 1:15-1:45 p.m. Fridays. There will be songs, rhymes, bounces, tickles and simple stories for tots up to age 3.

    Preschool Storytime: 11:15-11:45 a.m. Thursdays features stories and songs for preschoolers and toddlers, ages 3-5.

    Saturday Storytime: 11:15-11:45 a.m. Saturdays, for babies, preschoolers and kids. There will be stories, songs and more.

    Afternoon Storytime: 1:15-1:45 p.m. Fridays. There will be songs, rhymes, bounces and simple stories to introduce children ages 0-3 to literacy.

    Lego Creators Club: 2-3 p.m. Nov. 3. Kids can meet other builders and get tips, themes and challenges every month, plus book tie-ins to take home.

    Teen Fine Forgiveness Read-In: 2:30-5:30 p.m. Oct. 19; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 20. Teens can come for a "read-in" for one hour at designated times to earn a certificate to waive eligible fines. Some exclusions apply, including accounts with missing items or those sent for collection are not eligible. The certificate is redeemable at any library through October.

    Volunteer Orientation: 3-4 p.m. Oct. 27. Teens and adults can apply to be a library volunteer. Participants will tour the library with a trained staff members who will give them the details of volunteering.

    Las Juntas Artists Association: In October, the acrylic, watercolor and mixed media works of Kerima Swain are on display.
