WALNUT CREEK -- Marie Emley celebrated her 95th birthday recently at a gala dinner party at the home of her daughter Carole Price in Martinez.
Marie grew up in New Jersey, coming west to California with her husband, Charles Sr., and their two children. They lived in South Pasadena before relocating to Camarillo, where she spent many happy years at her favorite occupation, as a schoolteacher.
Marie has loved her many years at Rossmoor, where she has participated in the Kiwanis Club and The American Legion. She also founded the first Grandparents Club and served as the librarian for the Rossmoor Big Band. A lover of good food and cooking, Marie's "famous" potato salad was a much-requested dish at potlucks. Also, Marie is an avid computer user, staying on top of current events and using instant messaging to stay in touch with her family.
Marie celebrated her milestone birthday Sept. 1 her favorite way -- surrounded by family and friends with everyone enjoying good food and good times.
