The following excerpts are from the Martinez police log:
THURSDAY, JULY 11 VEHICLE THEFT -- On Waterfront Road a vehicle was reported stolen at 1:27 a.m. BURGLARY -- A caller on Isabel Drive discovered a 22-year-old man in the garage going through an unlocked vehicle at 6:39 a.m. Several items were reported missing, and the man fled in a vehicle driven by an elderly person. VEHICLE THEFT -- It was reported at 7:26 a.m. that a vehicle was stolen from Center Avenue during the night. PETTY THEFT -- It was reported at 8:16 a.m. that a bag containing personal information and prescription glasses was taken from an unlocked vehicle on Lake Oaks Court. PETTY THEFT -- At 11:35 a.m., a caller reported that an iPhone was stolen at a school on E Street. FRAUD -- It was reported at 1:46 p.m. that a signature was forged on a check which was cashed for $3,072.44 at a business on Alhambra Avenue. PETTY THEFT -- The door of a vehicle parked on Arnold Drive was found open at 4:12 p.m. and identification, $150 in change and a military knife were reported stolen. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen at 4:36 p.m. from an Alhambra Avenue parking lot. VEHICLE THEFT -- A caller reported that a vehicle was stolen at 5:06 p.m. from Hidden Lakes Court. PETTY THEFT -- It was reported at 6:53 p.m. that musical instruments were stolen from a church on Harbor View Drive. The loss was valued at $500. Entry was made through a window. FRAUD -- At 7:21 p.m., a caller on Sequoia Court received a collection notice for $700 from a business she had never done business with using her maiden name. BURGLARY -- On Lake Court at 9:08 p.m., it was reported that a vehicle was burglarized. A GPS and other items were stolen.
FRIDAY, JULY 12 PETTY THEFT -- It was reported at 10:49 a.m. that a 37-year-old woman was in custody at a business on Arnold Drive on suspicion of theft of music CDs. HIT-AND-RUN -- A hit-and-run was reported at 12:13 p.m. in a parking lot on Henrietta Street. PETTY THEFT -- At 12:39 p.m., a bicycle worth $400 was reported taken from the front porch of a residence on Pine Street. FRAUD -- It was reported on Fig Tree Lane at 3:56 p.m. that a checking account was compromised and two checks were fraudulently passed. PETTY THEFT -- At 4:47 p.m., two bottles of alcohol were reported stolen from a business on Arnold Drive. A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft, suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, and suspicion of carrying a dagger. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE -- At 10:21 p.m., a 21-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were seen hitting vehicles, and arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
SATURDAY, JULY 13 HIT-AND-RUN -- A hit-and-run was reported at 1:34 a.m. on Lance Court. HIT-AND-RUN -- On Spring Lake Drive, a hit-and-run was reported at 1:34 a.m. BURGLARY -- A caller reported a commercial burglary on Center Avenue at 8:49 a.m. The front door of the business was open and money and a laptop stolen. The safe had pry marks on it. HIT-AND-RUN -- A hit-and-run was reported at 12:26 p.m. at Elderwood Drive and Morello Avenue. PETTY THEFT -- It was reported at 6:52 p.m. that a muffler was cut from a vehicle in a parking lot on Arnold Drive.
SUNDAY, JULY 14 PETTY THEFT -- Artwork worth $450 was reported stolen from a business on Court Street at 12:40 p.m. BURGLARY -- It was reported at 1:14 p.m. that the lock of a shed on Alhambra Way was cut and a saw was stolen. PETTY THEFT -- At 2:37 p.m., a tire was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a business on Alhambra Avenue, and the thief left a cell phone behind.
MONDAY, JULY 15 VANDALISM -- At 7:51 a.m., it was reported that the main window of the District Attorney's Office on Ward Street was kicked in during the weekend. BURGLARY -- It was reported at 8:51 a.m. that a bicycle was stolen from a residence on Marina Vista. PETTY THEFT -- A 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of petty theft at an Arnold Drive business at 3:15 p.m. FRAUD -- At 3:52 p.m., a caller from Silverwood Drive reported that a debit card was fraudulently used. FRAUD -- At a business on Alhambra Avenue, it was reported at 7:08 p.m. that a customer picked up prescription narcotic medication using another person's identification. ASSAULT -- At 8:18 p.m., a man reported being in a fight and chased onto the roof of a business on Pacheco Boulevard, and then beating up those who were chasing him. PETTY THEFT -- An employee at a business on Arnold Drive reported at 11:18 p.m. that a cell phone was stolen while being charged. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE -- At 11:18 p.m. on Robinson Street, two men, 34 and 49, and a 25-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a weapon.
TUESDAY, JULY 16 FRAUD -- A caller from Pleasant Hill Road East reported fraudulent use of a Social Security number in an online application at a business. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen at 5:19 p.m. at Court and Ward streets. VANDALISM -- Vandalism was reported at 8:55 p.m. at the police department on Henrietta Street.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 17 BURGLARY -- At 7:27 a.m., carpentry tools were reported stolen from a business under construction on Court Street. Entry was made through the roof.
