MARTINEZ -- The Central Contra Costa Sanitary District board has agreed to lease land to a sustainable farm program for up to 10 years, if the farm operators meet performance goals.
Trustees voted 3-2 Thursday to approve a business plan presented by AgLantis, the group behind the Coco San Sustainable Farm project, along with an agreement that allows the group to lease about 15-acres for $1 a year. The group expects to grow crops that will be sold or donated to the food bank or local school districts. The group plans to offer a teaching facility with a sustainable curriculum.
