It was a spectacular cookie selling season for Girl Scout Troop 30537, of Saint Theresa School, in the Oakland hills.
This past spring was their first year taking on this new venture. Not only were these girls able to gain confidence in their leadership skills through the process of selling to the general public, they also acquired invaluable life lessons in becoming a change in their community and society as a whole.
Last spring's third- and fourth-graders sold nearly 5,000 boxes of cookies and earned about $15,000 for the Girl Scouts of America. From their own personal proceeds, Troop 30537 generously donated $1,500 to the Wildlife Conservation Society.
In addition, these Girl Scouts created a slogan "From Our Troop to Yours" and generated more than 200 donated boxes of cookies for the U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
With another cookie selling season right around the corner, Troop 30537 is already gearing up for another successful venture. The girls hope to make a significant donation toward another worthy cause in order to continue making the world better than they found it.
These Girl Scouts would like to thank their parents who tirelessly supported them through their efforts. A special thanks goes out to Juan Perez, their official cookie manager, who coordinated their cookie selling season which led to their incredible success.
