O'Dowd's Crum signs with Holy Names
Bishop O'Dowd High graduate Joshua Crum has signed a letter of intent to Holy Names University, according to the hnuhawks.com web site.
Last season as a senior for the Dragons, Crum averaged nine points, three assists and 3.5 steals per game, according to the web site. He was also an honorable mention all-Hayward Area Athletic League boys selection. Bishop O'Dowd won the North Coast Section Division III boys championship game and advanced to the California Interscholastic Federation Division III Northern Regional final.
Last season, Holy Names was 15-16 overall and 7-5 in the California Pacific Conference.
Local soccer players competing in nationals
Five local soccer players are competing for the DeAnza Force Academy soccer team, which will play in the academy national championships in Houston beginning July 17,
Bishop O'Dowd High graduate Max Ornstil, Oakland Tech graduate Noah Gaines and Head-Royce's Travis Pillon are on the team. Dylan Autran, an Oakland resident who graduated from Acalanes, and Castro Valley High's Nick Lima also are competing.
All five players have committed to colleges to play soccer. Ornstil and Autran are going to Santa Clara, Gaines is headed to UC Irvine, Pillon to the University of Pennsylvania and Lima to Cal.
