MORAGA -- When it's springtime in Moraga, it is time to consider who in the community has put in considerable time, effort and perhaps money toward making the town a better place for all its residents.
Yes, it is time to nominate neighbors you feel are worthy of the Moraga Citizen of the Year honor.
Potential "citizens" should be folks who have demonstrated a love of their community through service -- preferably volunteer service, but depending on one's job, it's possible for a nominee to have contributed largely through their profession. Sitting elected officials are not eligible.
The banquet honoring the designated outstanding citizen will be held Friday, May 3, at the Soda Center on the Saint Mary's College campus.
Letters of nomination may be emailed to Lamorinda Sun Editor Sam Richards at email@example.com, or via the U.S. Mail to Sam Richards, 2640 Shadelands Drive, Walnut Creek, CA 94598. Deadline for nominations is April 1.
The 2013 winner will succeed Ellen Beans, one of the founders of the Moraga Citizens Network.
Sponsors of the Moraga's Citizen of the Year award are the Sun, Kiwanis of Moraga Valley and Saint Mary's College.
