CONCORD -- Lightning isn't supposed to strike twice in the same place. But the Las Lomas High football team was struck by the same bolt just moments apart.

Clayton Valley Charter's Miles Harrison broke off touchdown runs of 56 and 60 yards on successive carries, and the Eagles amassed 559 yards of total offense in a 59-13 rout of Las Lomas in their North Coast Section Division II quarterfinal football game Friday.

The second-seeded Eagles (11-1) will play host next Friday to either Miramonte or Northgate, who meet tonight in another Division II quarterfinal.

It was a season-high yardage mark for Harrison, who touched the ball just 17 times. After being stopped for three yards on his first carry, Harrison took a handoff to the right, then cut back and in a few strides was streaking all alone through the Las Lomas secondary for a 56-yard touchdown.

"They were crashing the outside pretty hard so I knew I had to cut it up every time I saw the outside backer coming up," Harrison said. "I saw the cutback lanes. I saw it on film and I knew I'd have to do that. Their defense is pretty good, but our offense just came out to play."

The Knights (7-5) countered that when quarterback Ben Wood went 59 yards on a keeper for a touchdown. Las Lomas then recovered the onside kick. But after Yemi Fashola batted down Wood's fourth-down pass at the line, Harrison went 60 yards on the next play for a touchdown and a 14-7 lead.

Las Lomas actually held the ball longer than Clayton Valley, running 71 offensive plays to 38 for Clayton Valley.

The Knights' only answer to the explosive Eagles was to keep the ball, and they went on a 68-yard, 16-play drive which burned eight minutes off the clock before Greyson Bromstad's 1-yard touchdown run closed the margin to 21-13 with 1:59 left in the first half.

But Harrison struck again, bolting for a 27-yard touchdown with 38 seconds left in the half.

The Knights played high-risk football. They converted three of eight fourth-down plays before finally punting in the third quarter, and recovered two of their three onside kickoffs. But they had no match for Clayton Valley's explosiveness.

The Eagles averaged 14.7 yards per offensive play. Their only fourth-down play came in the third quarter, when Harrison picked up 5 yards on fourth-and-9, then scored on a 14-yard run on the next play.

Wood accounted for 209 yards, throwing for 107 yards and rushing for 102. The Eagles held Bromstad in check with 77 yards on 22 carries.
