OAKLAND -- A resident jumped out of a window to escape a fire at an Oakland home early Monday morning, a fire official said.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at a one-story home at 2722 79th Ave. at 3:21 a.m., Battalion Chief Adrian Sheppard said. It was contained within 35 minutes, he said.
The fire was blocking both the front and back entrances, and the resident had to break a window, unlatch security bars and climb out the window to safety, Sheppard said.
He suffered minor cuts from breaking the glass, Sheppard said. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and there is no damage estimate yet, Sheppard said.
