Police are seeking two suspects in connection with shoplifting incidents.

VALLEJO -- Police are looking for two people they say used pepper spray to carry out a pair of robberies earlier this month, then fled in a car registered out of Hayward.

The two suspects, a man and a woman, were noticed by employees acting suspiciously and apparently shoplifting items from a Safeway at 709 Lincoln Road West on Monday, Vallejo police said. The two were confronted as the exited the market, but the woman sprayed pepper spray in the face of a loss prevention officer and both escaped.

That incident came six days after the man and woman were seen shoplifting items from a Kohl's store on Admiral Callaghan Lane, police said. Once again, the female sprayed pepper spray in the face of a security officer upon being confronted and escaped in a black Chrysler Sebring convertible.

Authorities listed the car's license plate number as 6VIW642.

Anyone with information about the incidents are asked to call Det. Todd Tribble at 707-648-4342 or the Vallejo Police Department at 800-488-9383.
