The East Bay Regional Park District is teaming up with outdoor clothing retailer REI this weekend to help fix up a trail near Brentwood.
The Hardy Canyon Trail at Round Valley Regional Preserve is in need of repair, according to park officials.
Work at the event, being held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., includes repairing trail treads, constructing drainage features and clearing overgrowth along the trail.
No prior experience is necessary, and the park district staff will provide tools, gloves and project supervision.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided. It is recommended volunteers dress in layers for changeable weather and wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, and closed-toe shoes, a hat/visor and bring sunscreen for sun protection.
All ages are welcome to participate; anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Advance registration is required.
