Flags will be flown at half mast Friday in honor of the late Neil Armstrong, who died Saturday.

The decree for the nation's flags to be flown half mast on the day of Armstrong's funeral was a proclamation handed down by President Barack Obama.

Flags will remain at half mast from sun-up to sundown.

The first man to walk on the moon, Armstrong passed away at the age of 82 in Cincinatti, OH, following complications resulting from a cardiovascular surgery earlier this month.
