The Alameda Local Agency Formation Commission is accepting applications to fill the seat of an alternate public member.

LAFCo is mainly responsible for coordinating changes in local governmental boundaries; reviewing ways to reorganize, simplify and streamline governmental structure; and, establishing planning spheres of influence for each city and special district within Alameda County.

The alternate Commissioner fully participates in discussions and deliberations, but can only vote when the regular public member is absent or disqualified.

Applicants must be residents of Alameda County. For a list of qualifications, as well as an application, visit the website www.acgov.org/lafco. The term is for four years.

Meetings are usually held at 4:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of every odd month in Dublin.

The deadline for filing an application is 5 p.m. Jan. 7. For more information, call 510-271-5142 or email Sandra.Hou@acgov.org.
