Children's clothing store is coming to South Shore Center
Crazy 8, a children's apparel store, has signed a new 10-year lease at Alameda South Shore Center.
The store is set to open this fall and will occupy Suite 280, a 3,117-square-foot space located directly across from See's Candies.
The opening of Crazy 8 means the 594,000-square-foot open-air shopping center will become 92 percent leased, according to real estate firm Jamestown, which owns the center.
Specialty retailer Crazy 8 is part of the Gymboree Corporation's group of brands. The shop offers outfits for girls and boys, sizes newborn to 14.
The first Crazy 8 store opened in August 2007. Gymboree currently operates more than 300 of the stores across the country.
Free car seat inspections on Saturday
The Alameda police will host a free children's car seat inspection 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday in the department's parking lot, 1555 Oak Street.
In Alameda County more than 95 percent of children's car seats are used or installed incorrectly, police say.
