Friday is the last Free Adoption Friday at the Alameda Animal Shelter. Stop by the shelter from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday to find a great new pet.
Despite the Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter's (FAAS) free adoptions, the shelter is critically full of animals, especially dogs. Almost every kennel is full, and more strays arrive every day. To give us room for all the homeless dogs needing shelter, we are in urgent need of temporary foster homes. Anyone living in Alameda County can be a foster volunteer for FAAS.
Foster volunteers open their homes for a short time to a shelter dog and provide them the love and care they need. FAAS provides food, bowls, a leash, crate and any needed medical expenses. Here are just a few that would like a temporary home. ROXY is a female black and tan corgi/miniature pincher mix that loves other dogs. PIPPA likes other dogs too. She came to the shelter very pregnant and had a litter of puppies on her very first night here. She's super-sweet. COLBY is a 1-year old patterdale terrier mix with one pointy ear and one floppy ear. He was dumped in front of the shelter, where staff found him when they arrived in the morning. He's a wonderful little dog. TYE is a smart, super-handsome 3-year-old neutered male brindled pit bull that enjoys playing with other big dogs and is easily trained.
If you are interested in fostering any of these dogs or any other dog in the shelter, please contact Diana at firstname.lastname@example.org or Cindy at email@example.com.
