Amador Valley routs Concord

  • The Amador Valley football team, with a two-quarterback rotation of Zeke Burgermeister and Ronnie Jones, stayed unbeaten with a 31-14 win over Concord on Sept. 6. Patrick Pipitone, who also played well in the Dons' season-opening win over Freedom on Aug. 30, had a 40-yard interception return for touchdown and three rushing touchdowns. Michael White had a 40-yard rushing touchdown after running for 188 yards and three scores against Freedom.

    Foothill rolls over Freedom

  • Riding a stout defensive effort, the Foothill football team improved to 2-0 with a 32-6 win over Freedom on Sept. 6. Speedster Isaiah Langley had two touchdowns receptions and Jamirr Holland had a 12-yard scoring run on the Falcons' first possession of the second half. Foothill's defense limited Freedom star Joe Mixon to 66 yards on 17 carries, and the Falcons offense did its part by keeping Mixon off the field with long marches. Junior quarterback Kyle Kearns passed for 201 yards and a touchdown.

    Livermore crushes Hayward

  • Andrae Kasten and Tim Harris each scored two touchdowns as the Livermore football team (1-1) rolled to 49-0 win over struggling Hayward on Sept. 6. Travis Adams passed for 122 yards and three touchdowns. The speedy Kasten had four receptions for 107 yards.

    Dublin gets first win

  • The Dublin football team got a good push from its offensive line and hard running from EJ Cross and Daryl Millinder in a 22-14 win over visiting Woodside on Sept. 6.

    Monte Vista triumphs

  • The Monte Vista High girls volleyball team is off to a smashing start under coach JJ Utchen. The Mustangs improved to 5-0 with a 25-22, 25-21 win over Carondelet in the Gold Division championship match of the Deer Valley tournament on Sept. 7. Junior middle blocker/opposite Hailey Lindberg, who is 6-foot-2, had nine kills against the Cougars, the Mustangs' East Bay Athletic League rival

  • San Ramon Valley at James Logan, football, Sept. 13, 7 p.m. -- Coming off a bye week, the Wolves (1-0) will look to avenge a 35-0 loss to the Colts last season. The Wolves feature RB Marcus de la Pena, who had 213 yards rushing and four touchdowns in a 67-30 win over Buhach Colony-Atwater on Aug. 30.

  • Deer Valley Invitational, girls golf, Sept. 16, TBA -- Amador Valley and several other local teams will vie for early bragging rights at Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch.

  • Ed Sias Invitational, cross country, Sept. 14, TBA. -- The popular meet at Hidden Valley Park in Martinez is sure to draw another strong field. Granada's girls team was second in the large school race last year, and the Matadors boys team was third.

  • Alexandra Hernandez, Livermore cross country -- She finished second in the Monte Vista Invitational girls senior division in a time of 12:54.62.

  • Patrick Pipitone, Amador Valley football -- Pipitone accounted for four touchdowns in the Dons' 31-14 win over Concord on Sept. 6

  • Zach Cribb, Monte Vista football -- He ran for 143 yards and a touchdown as the Mustangs beat Berkeley 20-6 on Sept. 6.

  • Hailey Lindberg, Monte Vista volleyball -- The junior pounded out nine kills in the Mustangs' win over Carondelet in the championship game of the Deer Valley tourney.
