ALAMEDA -- Gary Francis Fine Art Gallery, located at 1419-E Park St., will host a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 8 in its new gallery entitled, "The Art of Giving Art."
This new exhibit will include leather, glass, ceramics, furniture and prints. The opening reception is part of the 2nd Friday Art Walk.
"We want to help people find pieces that friends and family will cherish and love, because art nourishes our hearts and lifts our souls," said Kavita Comoglia, wife of Gary Comoglia. The couple owns the gallery.
The new gallery represents a love affair not only with art, but with each other.
The Comoglias met while Kavita was in graduate school at UC Davis, and after Gary graduated from San Francisco Academy of Art, where he taught for many years. Both of them had traveled to Europe and Mexico City, visiting many fine art galleries.
"We realized that because art is our passion, we should open a gallery. Our goal is to make visiting galleries fun and enjoyable rather than intimidating, as it sometimes can be for new collectors," Kavita Comoglia said.
The exhibit runs from Nov. 6 through Dec. 21. There will be expanded holiday hours from noon to 8 p.m. from Dec. 18 to Dec. 23. On Dec. 24, the gallery will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
