SAN LEANDRO -- The owners of a popular Himalayan eatery in Berkeley have brought their recipes for success to a new restaurant in San Leandro.
Rajen Thapa and his three relatives are co-owners of Taste of the Himalayas in Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto. They, along with another relative, took over San Leandro's CreAsian Bistro on MacArthur Boulevard and re-branded it CreAsian -- Taste of the Himalayas.
The new spot is serving up Nepalese, Indian and Asian fusion dishes. Thapa said popular dishes include the Chicken Tikka Masala plate, Chicken Momo dumplings, Nan bread, Biryani plates, and Tandoor dishes baked in a clay oven.
A grand opening event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday at 1269 MacArthur Blvd.
