Friday, Dec. 13

  • 8:42 a.m. -- El Cerrito Avenue. A resident reported a home might have been burglarized.

  • 10:48 a.m. -- Arbor Drive. Two men in a black sedan were taking photos of people's houses.

  • 11:41 a.m. -- Trestle Glen Road. A man came to the door and told the baby sitter that he was there to do some work in the basement. He left after she informed him that she would be calling his boss.

    Sunday, Dec. 15

  • 6:11 p.m. -- Mandana Boulevard. A man was peering over fences.

  • 11:19 a.m. -- Grand Avenue. Someone reported a wallet had been stolen from a store the day before.

    Monday, Dec. 16

  • 3:33 p.m. -- Cambrian Avenue. A man clad in an orange shirt was claiming to be selling magazines but did not have any necessary paperwork. Someone in the same attire was doing the same thing on Trestle Glen Road, according to a caller at 8:27 p.m., and said he'd return the next day with that documentation.

  • 4:30 p.m. -- Florada Avenue. A teenage girl was looking into a window at a residence and said she was looking for John.

  • 4:57 p.m. -- Winsor Avenue. A motorist was throwing boxes and paper out of a vehicle.

  • 5:41 p.m. -- Palm Drive. Someone stole a UPS package from a porch.

    Tuesday, Dec. 17

  • 10:36 a.m. -- Grand Avenue. An employee reported being suspicious about a customer who routinely had been buying the inventory of wooden matches at the store since May.

  • 8:15 p.m. -- Wildwood Avenue. A man came to the back door of a home and asked for donations.

    Wednesday, Dec. 18

  • 3:16 a.m. -- Highland Avenue. Someone smashed a vehicle's window.

  • 2:20 p.m. -- Greenbank Avenue. Someone stole a 1998 black Infiniti.

  • 2:28 p.m. -- Olive Avenue. Identity theft was reported.

    Thursday, Dec. 19

  • 3:03 p.m. -- Witter Field. A truck driver tore down part of a fence at the El Cerrito gate and drove away.

    Don't use excessive amounts of paper (especially wrapping paper) to build roaring fires in fireplaces. It's possible to ignite creosote in the chimney by overbuilding the fire.
