Granada upends SRV

  • The Granada High boys basketball team started quickly in a 76-61 East Bay Athletic League win over San Ramon Valley on Jan. 10, outscoring the Wolves 38-15 in the first half. Collin Stafford and Luis Ramirez had 19 points apiece for Granada, which improved to 1-1 in league play. The Wolves fell to 12-2 overall and 1-1 in league.

    Leininger paces Dons

  • Glenn Leininger had a game-high 18 points as the Amador Valley boys basketball team bested Livermore 60-49 on Jan. 10 to improve to 13-2 overall and 2-0 in the EBAL. The Dons led 31-15 at halftime and 51-31 after three quarters. Stokley Chaffee added 13 points for the Dons, and Austin Medeiros led the Cowboys with 14 points.

    Mack scores 41, Amador Valley rolls

  • Junior Ariah Mack scored 41 points as the Amador Valley girls basketball team beat Livermore 64-51 on Jan. 10. Rachel Hernandez led the Cowboys with 21 points.

    Dougherty Valley rebounds for win

  • The Dougherty Valley High boys basketball team got a game-high 21 points from senior Jarvis Edwards in a bounce-back 50-45 win over Alhambra on Jan. 10 in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League. The Wildcats (11-4, 1-1) dropped their DFAL opener 70-59 against Campolindo on Jan. 7.

    Monte Vista stays hot

  • Trevor John and Spencer Rust each scored 22 points as the Monte Vista boys basketball team stayed unbeaten overall with a 64-45 win over host California on Jan. 10. The Mustangs went on an 18-4 run in the third quarter after trailing by a point at halftime against the upset-minded Grizzlies.

  • Senior Lily Wissinger had a game-high 17 points and Amanda Daily added 14 as the unbeaten Monte Vista girls basketball team beat California 63-33 on Jan. 10.

    SRV boys soccer blanks Foothill

  • Midfielder Casey McSunas, a 6-foot-2 senior captain, scored two goals as the San Ramon Valley boys soccer team beat Foothill 3-0 on Jan. 10. The Wolves improved to 6-4-0 overall and 2-1 in the EBAL

  • Amador Valley at California, girls soccer, Jan. 16, 6 p.m. -- The improving Dons, led by hot-scoring Olivia Cotton, will meet the Grizzlies in EBAL play .

  • Monte Vista at Carondelet, girls basketball, Jan. 17, 7 p.m. -- The Mustangs will likely put their unbeaten record to the test against the powerful Cougars. The teams split EBAL games last season.

  • Ariah Mack, Amador Valley basketball -- Mack had a big week with 64 points combined as the Dons split games against California and Livermore.

  • Jacob Roach, Livermore wrestling -- Roach continued his solid tournament form with a team-best third-place finish at the Kern County Invitational on Jan. 11.

  • Jake Foscalina, Livermore soccer -- Foscalina stayed hot with two goals and an assist, helping the Cowboys beat California 3-0 on Jan. 9

  • Annie Lowe, San Ramon Valley soccer -- Lowe scored two goals to help the unbeaten Wolves beat Foothill 4-0.

  • Charles Zaloumis, Monte Vista soccer -- Zaloumis scored in the 16th minute as the Mustangs earned a clutch win over De La Salle on Jan. 9.
