A 31-year-old motorist who an officer pulled over for a traffic violation was arrested after he was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and concentrated cannabis, police said.

The man, who was arrested about 12:40 a.m. Feb. 3 in the 2400 block of San Jose Avenue, also faces charges of driving while under the influence of narcotics and possessing less than one ounce of marijuana, according to police.

FRIDAY, JAN. 31

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen just before 4 p.m. in the 1400 block of High Street.

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a 58-year-old cyclist during a traffic stop at Park Street and San Antonio Avenue after he was allegedly found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. An officer found the drug and paraphernalia after learning the man was on probation for identity theft and could be searched. The arrest occurred just after 7 p.m.

    SATURDAY, FEB. 1

  • COMMERCIAL BURGLARY -- A man who climbed a fence into a locked storage yard and stole a bicycle was arrested at 12:05 a.m. in the 2400 block of Mariner Square Drive, police said. Along with burglary, the man faces a charge of violating his probation stemming from a previous theft conviction because he was allegedly carrying bolt cutters, which police classified as burglary tools. The man was also carrying a methamphetamine pipe, police said.

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a 23-year-old motorist following a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Santa Clara Avenue, where a background check revealed that he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The man, who was driving on a suspended license, was also in possession of suspected cocaine and marijuana, and his passenger, 22, was wanted an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The arrests occurred about 10:50 p.m.

    SUNDAY, FEB. 2

  • BATTERY -- A man, 25, who was involved in a physical altercation at a bar in the 1500 block of Park Street was taken into custody after the victim placed him under citizen's arrest about 1:10 a.m. Police also arrested two men, ages 23 and 29, for public intoxication after they allegedly interfered with officers as they were investigating the incident.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 8:50 a.m. in the 500 block of Taylor Avenue.

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a 50-year-old woman under arrest on suspicion of drunken driving after a traffic stop in the 300 block of Court Street. The arrest occurred at 4:25 p.m., and the woman was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

    MONDAY, FEB. 3

  • BATTERY -- Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Cypress Street after a smoker allegedly punched someone during a confrontation about violating the city's smoking ordinance. The victim did not wish prosecution, however. It happened about 8:15 a.m.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- Vehicles were reported stolen about 8:40 a.m. in the 1300 block of Third Street and about 7:40 p.m. in the 300 Park Street.

    TUESDAY, FEB. 4

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a vehicle stolen in Oakland in the 2200 block of Alameda South Shore Center about 12:10 p.m. Another vehicle, which someone stole in San Jose, was recovered about 30 minutes later in the 900 block of Fountain Street.

  • PETTY THEFT -- A woman, 21, faces a petty theft charge after she was accused of shoplifting merchandise from Kohl's at Alameda South Shore Center. The woman was arrested about 5:45 p.m.

  • BURGLARY -- A burglar stole jewelry and an iPad after using a rock to break a window on a rear door to get inside a residence in the 900 block of Buena Vista Avenue. The break-in was reported at 8:40 p.m.

  • MISSING PERSON -- A juvenile from Oakland who was reported missing was located about 9:30 p.m. on Lincoln Avenue, police said.

    WEDNESDAY, FEB. 5

  • CONCEALED WEAPON -- Police arrested a 21-year-old man during a traffic stop in the 600 block of Buena Vista Avenue after he was allegedly found with marijuana and a concealed and loaded firearm. After pulling over the man about 10:20 a.m., the officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, which prompted a search, police said. He was carrying the gun in his sweatshirt pocket and was arrested on multiple charges, including driving with a suspended license, police said.
