Tenorio steps down as Encinal football coach

Joe Tenorio, shown above during a practice in 2009, resigned as Encinal High's football coach on Feb. 13. Tenorio told the Bay Area News Group his career was at a crossroads and cited his desire to become an on-campus coach after he completes his master's degree this summer. He added that if he wanted to become an on-campus coach, he felt he needed to leave Encinal. "It was time to move on," Tenorio said. In eight seasons leading the Jets, he produced an overall record of 64-26 that included four straight Bay Shore Athletic League titles from 2008-2011 and the 2008 North Coast Section Division III championship. The Jets went 8-3 last season with a 4-1 mark in the West Alameda County Conference-Foothill Division.
