DANVILLE -- Aaron Becker was officially hired as the San Ramon Valley High football coach earlier this week. Wolves athletic director John Raynor said Becker's hire was approved by the San Ramon Valley school board Tuesday and Becker was introduced as the coach to the students Thursday.
Becker teaches physical education at San Ramon Valley and played quarterback at the school in the mid-1990s, graduating in 1997. He had been the Wolves' interim head coach since mid-November when he took over for Mark Kessler, who was fired as coach one day before the team played its first North Coast Section Division I playoff game. San Ramon Valley won that game, 42-24 over San Leandro, but lost 31-17 to California the following week and finished the season with a 7-5 record.
"We're excited to have Aaron as out head coach," Raynor said Friday, adding that there were other candidates for the job. "He has the leadership qualities we're looking for."
