SAN LEANDRO -- Police have arrested a man who they say grabbed a boy and tried to kiss him while the teen was hanging out with his friends Wednesday morning at a San Leandro gas station.
The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. at the Shell Gas Station located at 1285 Bancroft Ave., where students sometimes congregate before classes start at nearby Bancroft Middle School.
San Leandro police would not release the suspect's name. They would only say he turned himself in Wednesday afternoon after the department sent out alerts about the incident.
According to Lt. Rick DeCosta, the suspect approached a male student at a gas station, pulled the boy toward him and tried to kiss him, according to San Leandro police.
The teen was able to push away the man, who reportedly used vulgar language and made lewd comments to the students. The teens left the gas station and told school administrators about the incident. School officials then contacted police.
