Work is underway on rebuilding the football field at El Cerrito High School, including removal of trees and cutting an entryway into the hillside on Ashbury Avenue for heavy equipment to access the site. Santa Rosa-based Wright Contracting was hired in November to carry out the $13.5 million project, which will include replacing and refurbishing bleachers on both sides of the field with a press box and elevator, constructing new team room buildings for home and visiting teams, building a new exercise and weight room and a new athletic equipment storage building. The stadium will also receive a new synthetic turf field, a synthetic surface track and new stadium lights.
