Wolves rally past Falcons in thriller

  • The San Ramon Valley High baseball team scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning and took a 9-5 win over Foothill on April 5 in East Bay Athletic League action. Junior Nick Poirier was 3 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs for the Wolves, who improved to 3-1 in league. Greg Lowe had two hits, including a double, and four RBIs. The Falcons scored three in the top of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead. Ryan Anderson had two hits and Daniel Rodriguez had two RBIs for the Falcons.

    Locals excel at Stanford Invitational

  • Amador Valley's Ja'Maun Charles won in the boys 100 meters in a time of 10.85 seconds at the Stanford Invitational on April 4. Granada's Jeremy Williams took first in the long jump at 6 feet, 8 inches. Dublin sophomore Mecca McGlaston had a personal best of 14.03 seconds to finish first in the girls 100 hurdles. Monte Vista's Brooke Starn had the top time in the girls 3,000 (9:59.09), and De La Salle had the best mark in the distance medley of 10:21.02.

    Host Livermore takes third in Stampede

  • Alyssa Ramirez was 3 for 3 as the Livermore softball team beat California 5-1 in the third place game of the 20th annual Livermore Stampede at Robertson Park on April 5. Leah Taulton added two hits for the Cowboys, who improved to 7-6 overall.

    Dons trip Mats in NCS rematch

  • Austin Piscotty had two hits and Parker Newman two RBIs as Amador Valley beat Granada 4-2 on April 5. Tyler Staniford was the winning pitcher in the rematch of last season's North Coast Section Division I semifinal game.

    Vidal powers Cowboys

  • Livermore senior DB Vidal was 3 for 4 with the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh as the Cowboys beat Piedmont Hills-San Jose 4-3 in nonleague action on April 5. Adam Hollar, who had two RBIs, and Vidal had doubles.

    Monte Vista tops Lodi

  • Monte Vista's Jonathan Freshman tossed a five-hitter and the Mustangs scored twice in the top of the fifth to take a 4-3 nonleague win over Lodi on April 5 at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton. Mike Ricupito and Brian Maguire had RBIs for the Mustangs.

  • Granada at Livermore, softball, April 15, 4 p.m. -- The rivals are both coming off strong performances in the Livermore Stampede last week, with the Matadors going 4-1 and the third-place Cowboys 3-2 at Robertson Park.

  • Cory Frederickson, Foothill volleyball -- Frederickson had 21 kills in the Falcons' win over San Ramon Valley on April 3 in the EBAL.

  • Max Sanderson, Foothill baseball -- Sanderson was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and the Falcons scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to beat Granada 8-7 on April 3.

  • DB Vidal, Livermore baseball -- Vidal was 3 for 4 with the game-winning RBI as the Cowboys took a 4-3 nonleague win over Piedmont Hills-San Jose.

  • Jeremy Williams, Granada track and field -- Williams needed one attempt to clear 6-8 and take first place in the boys high jump at the Stanford Invitational.

  • Christian Banke, Monte Vista golf -- Banke fired a 2-under 34 as the Mustangs beat rival San Ramon Valley 190-200 in EBAL action at Round Hill Country Club on April 3.
