San Ramon Valley 4-0 at SLO tourney The San Ramon Valley baseball team went 4-0 at the San Luis Obispo High School Spring Tournament, improving its record to 14-4 overall as it entered this week. In the Wolves' final game of the weekend on April 26, pitchers Joey Matulovich and Riley Moore combined for a no-hitter in a 5-3 win over Morro Bay. Moore came on in relief and pitched the final 32/3 innings, striking out five and allowing two walks. Leading San Ramon Valley's offense were Nick Poirier with three base hits and Dylan Lottinville with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI. In other games in the tournament, the Wolves beat Cabrillo 8-2, Templeton 8-3 and San Luis Obispo 8-1.
Monte Vista lacrosse unbeaten in EBAL play The Monte Vista boys lacrosse team improved to 4-0 in the EBAL with a 10-4 win over Amador Valley on April 25. Chad Housley scored three goals for the Mustangs, who broke out to a 6-2 lead at halftime. Jack Sauer and Ben Spencer scored two goals each in the victory for Monte Vista, which also improved to 10-4 overall and stayed in a first place tie with 5-1 San Ramon Valley. Goalie Trey Cranney made six saves for Amador Valley in the loss.
Amador Valley tops Granada in softball The Amador Valley High softball team remained in control of the East Bay Athletic League title race with a 3-1 win over Granada on April 23. UC Davis-bound senior Ashley Lotoszynski drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning for the Dons, who are ranked No. 2 nationally. Lotoszynski's single up the middle scored courtesy runner Emily Roskopf from second base to break a 1-1 tie. Lotoszynski scored later in the inning on Victoria Molina's sacrifice fly, providing the unbeaten Dons some insurance, as they entered the week with a 17-0 overall record and a 7-0 mark in the EBAL. Granada fell to 14-4 overall and 5-3 in league play.

On deck DFAL championships, boys tennis, May 2-3, 11 a.m. -- League champions and North Coast Section qualifiers in singles and doubles will be determined at Saint Mary's College. San Ramon Valley at California, baseball, May 2, 4 p.m. -- The Wolves and the Grizzlies, two of the three teams tied for first place in the EBAL entering this week, get together for another critical game. California beat San Ramon Valley 5-2 on April 3. Foothill at Granada, softball, May 1, 4 p.m. -- The Falcons, who entered the week having won three of their last four league games, travel to Livermore to play the Matadors in what is shaping up as a battle for second place in the EBAL. Sacramento Meet of Champions, track and field, May 3, all day -- Some of the East Bay's best track and field athletes will get together at American River College for what is one of the final tuneups of the season before league meets begin.
