Alameda's Na wins WACC individual title David Na, an Alameda High School senior, won the West Alameda County Conference Championships individual title with a one-over 72 at the Chuck Corica South Course on April 28. Bishop O'Dowd won the team title with a score of 411. Its scorers were Jason Brown (78), Marcus Williams (80), Tyler McDaniel (81), Jack Barbee (86) and James Reynes (86).
Big innings lift Jayhawks to victory The Head-Royce baseball team scored six runs in both the fourth and sixth innings in its 13-5 nonleague victory over Piedmont on April 26. Sami Tuqan was 3 for 4 at the plate with a double, a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs for the Jayhawks. Teammates Matt Forster, Cole Bamberger, Nico Hoerner and Reid Gibbs all produced two hits in the win. Piedmont swept a West Alameda County Conference-Shoreline Division series with Hayward, 11-3 on April 23 and 13-5 on April 25. Max Atchison pounded two triples, and teammate Spencer Gutterman added another triple in the victory on April 25. Graham Low was 1 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs in the April 23 game, and teammate Danny Kolosta was 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs in the same game.
El Cerrito baseball team edges De Anza The El Cerrito High School baseball team scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for a 6-5 nonleague victory over De Anza on April 23. Aidan Bernal was 2 for 4 at the plate with three RBIs for the Gauchos, and teammate Jamal Rutledge was 2 for 4 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Jesse Ough also had two hits and a run scored for El Cerrito.

Sacramento Meet of Champions, track and field, American River College, May 3, 11 a.m. -- Athletes from Bishop O'Dowd, El Cerrito, Oakland Tech, Piedmont, Skyline and St. Mary's are among many teams entered in the top-notch meet. The open session starts at 11 a.m., and the invitational session begins at 4 p.m.
Stars of the week Kaleo Johnson, Encinal baseball -- Johnson slammed a solo home run and went 2 for 4 with two RBIs in an 11-4 loss to Arroyo on April 26. He also was 2 for 4 with a run scored in a 3-2 loss to Arroyo on April 23. David Na, Alameda boys golf -- Na shot a four-under 31, including three birdies and one eagle, at Monarch Bay Golf Club in a 224-243 dual-match win over San Leandro on April 25. He then won the individual title at the WACC Championships with a one-over 72 at the Chuck Corica South Course on April 28. Aidan Bernal, El Cerrito baseball -- Bernal was 2 for 4 with three RBIs as El Cerrito defeated De Anza 6-5 on April 23. Noah Bremer, Berkeley baseball -- Bremer fired a complete-game three-hitter with six strikeouts and no earned runs as Berkeley beat Alameda 1-0 on April 26. Marayne Martin-Fields, Skyline girls track and field -- Martin-Fields won the 400 meters at the Viking Track Classic with a time of 59.78 seconds and also ran a 58.3 400 split for the Titans' winning 1600 relay squad (4:07.55). Channing Nesbitt, Bishop O'Dowd baseball -- Nesbitt was 4 for 5 from the plate with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs in the Dragons' 15-9 win over Castro Valley on April 23.
