'Jackets earn postseason berth

Berkeley High baseball player Xavier Williams (5), shown safely diving into home to score the winning run in a game against Alameda on April 26, went 2 for 3 at with two stolen bases in the Yellowjackets' 3-0 victory over Castro Valley on May 8. Noah Bremer fired a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and a walk in the victory, which eliminated Castro Valley from West Alameda County Conference-Foothill Division regular season title contention. Berkeley's David Langer and Zachary Copeland drove in runs in the victory, which clinched a WACC-Foothill playoff berth for the Yellowjackets. Results on Berkeley's first-round game were not available at press time. The Yellowjackets also beat Castlemont 19-1 on May 5 in a nonleague game, where Williams was 3 for 4 with a double, triple and four RBIs. Berkeley lost to Castro Valley 2-1 on May 6 and Pittsburg 4-2 on May 10.
