ALBANY -- Various musical groups at Albany High School are hard at work preparing for this month's free concert, set for 7 p.m. May 20 at Memorial Park, 1325 Portland Ave. The free event at the outdoor stage on the park lawn is sponsored by the Albany Community Foundation (www.albanycommunityfoundation.org).
The Albany High School wind ensemble, symphonic band, orchestra and jazz lab are scheduled to perform under the direction of music program head Craig Bryant.
Concertgoers are encouraged to pack some food, come out early, spread a blanket and picnic in the park. (No food will be available for sale.)
This will be the second year for the event, which serves as an opportunity at the end of the school year for the students in the music program to show what they have learned and entertain the community, as well as a chance for middle and elementary school students to be exposed to the high school music program.
