Parks group gets new officer, board member
The Alameda Friends of the Parks Foundation has announced that Gina Jaber has become vice president of its board and that Jean Brennan has joined the board.
An Alameda resident for more than 30 years, Jaber joins foundation President Bill Delaney and Joe Restagno, treasurer and secretary. Brennan lives in Alameda with her husband and two children and has spent more than 30 years as a human resources and staff management professional.
Alameda events to celebrate Harvey Milk
Volunteers with the Alameda Harvey Milk Committee are hosting two upcoming events to honor the slain San Francisco supervisor. The first will be a concert by the East Bay Gay Men's Chorus. It will take place 7 p.m. May 30 at the First Congregational Church, 1912 Central Ave. The second will be a celebration of Alameda's youth at the Alameda Free Library, 1550 Oak St. It will take place from 10 to 11:30 p.m. May 31, and the first Harvey Milk Day College Scholarship will be presented.
