Get ready for the biggest adoption event of the year! Maddie's Pet Adoption Days are May 31 and June 1. Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) is participating in this blowout weekend adoption event to place all of our dogs and cats in qualified homes. Free adoptions will be offered throughout the weekend.
FAAS will have more than 20 kittens and more than 40 dogs, cats and puppies available for adoption next weekend. All the shelter animals have been vaccinated, microchipped, are health- and behavior-checked and are super-socialized. They will be spayed/neutered before going to their new homes.
FAAS will offer many free goodies to all adopters during Maddie's Pet Adoption Days including free dog training classes, cat beds, pet food samples, wellness exams with veterinarians, a FAAS bag and more.
We will have two adoption locations for May 31 and June 1. Our shelter, at 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda, will be open extended hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 31 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 1. We will have a satellite adoption booth at the Bay Street Shopping Center, 5616 Bay St. in Emeryville. The satellite booth will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
More than eighty shelters and rescues in Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara and San Francisco counties are participating in the Maddie's Pet Adoption Days sponsored by Maddie's Fund. In an effort to empty the shelters, Maddie's Fund will pay each shelter or rescue group an adoption stipend ranging from $500 to $2,000 per pet. The money received from Maddie's Fund pays the costs to care for the animals in our shelter, so the more animals we adopt on the 31st and 1st, the more money we have to save others!
