Girls 16U

The 2014 State Cup champion 16U West Coast Wild had a successful showing at the Showcase of Champions title in Redmond, Wa. from May 16-19.

In its first match, the Wild faced the No. 1 nationally ranked ECNL Crossfire Premier, and battled to a 2-2 draw, with goals coming from Miciah Madison and Emilie Allum. Assists were provided by Tori Nicolo and Kasidee Wiley.

The Wild continued with an impressive 4-0 win over Eastside Timbers with goals by Mariah McDuffie, Kasidee Wiley, Melissa Ellis and Misha Brewster, and strong play from Sydney Lunt, Rachel Tungol, Demi Gonis, Alyssa Del Castillo, Hanna Beauchamp and Adeline Ruiz.

The Wild next faced the No. 1 ranked team in Washington, the Eastside 97 Red, and they battled to a 0-0 draw.

In its final match of the Showcase, the Wild faced Washington Premier ECNL team and won 1-0. Throughout the game the Wild moved the ball masterfully around field, which eventually gave McDuffie a clean look and she took full advantage for the lone goal of the game. Wild keeper Amanda Valentine earned her third straight shutout and captains Megan Amick, Autumn Smithers and Allum anchored the defense. Coach Troy Dayak noted that injured player Jacey Luzzi was especially helpful as an assistant during the Showcase.

As part of celebrating their second State Cup Championship in as many years, Dayak took the girls and their parents to attend the MLS game between the Seattle Sounders and the San Jose Earthquakes. For more information about West Coast or the Wild visit www.westcoastsoccer.com
