OAKLAND -- The city is offering parking scofflaws an extra notice before their cars get the dreaded boot. This month, the city is beginning placing courtesy notices on parked cars with one of more unpaid parking violations.
The notices are to remind motorists to pay parking tickets and remind them of their payment options. City officials hope that notices will result in fewer cars getting towed or immobilized because of unpaid tickets.
Oakland is also nearly done converting to new parking meters that accept payment by credit card or through cell phone applications.
