New Board Members Elected: The Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance for complementary therapies to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment, announced two new board members have been elected to its board of directors. Bob Anderson was elected to the board in March and is the foundation's treasurer. Bob has been an active fundraiser with the American Cancer Society and has held different chair positions for several Relays For Life events from Florida to California. Bob chose to work with cancer patients after his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is an 18-year survivor.
Jennifer Hines was also elected to the board in March and is the chairwoman for the foundation's Newsletter Committee. Jennifer is a native of Southern California and a longtime Pleasanton resident. In 2010, Jennifer was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and has since been actively involved in ovarian cancer advocacy, Relay for Life and the Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation.
Basic Training Graduate: Air Force Airman Michael I. Liu graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland at San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Liu is the son of John Y. Liu and stepson of Roxane Liu of Dublin and a 2011 graduate of Tracy High School in Tracy.
Local Soldier Graduates: Army Pvt. Scott O. Stark has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia Stark is the son of Melinda and Roy Stark of San Ramon and a 2012 graduate of Dougherty Valley High School, San Ramon.
