BAY POINT -- A 25-year-old Bay Point man was found fatally shot late Friday night in Bay Point, and authorities said they were searching for a motive in the slaying.
Officers were called about 10:30 p.m. to the 2200 block of Placer Drive after a report of shots being fired in the area, said Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jimmy Lee.
When sheriff's deputies arrived, they found Paul Chambers suffering from a gunshot wound in the doorway of a home.
He was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Concord, where he was pronounced dead, Lee said. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Detectives from the Sheriff's Office homicide unit have not determined a motive for the shooting, Lee said. No suspect information was available on Saturday. No arrests have been made.
Anyone with any information about the case is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 925-313-2600.
