SAN RAMON -- San Ramon Valley High offensive tackle Dru Samia, a four-star recruit by Scout.com, announced Friday night he will attend Oklahoma.
The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Samia, who celebrated his 17th birthday Friday, had narrowed his decision to either the Sooners or UCLA. He reached a final decision Friday morning.
"I really felt comfortable there," Samia said of Oklahoma. "I love the coaching staff. I went out (for an unofficial visit) and I didn't want to leave."
Samia, who held over 10 scholarship offers -- including six from Pac-12 schools -- was a first-team all-East Bay Athletic League selection in 2013. He was considered one of the top offensive tackles at The Opening, a camp in Beaverton, Ore. earlier this summer for some of the elite high school football prospects in the country.
Samia announced his decision following San Ramon Valley's scrimmage at Dougherty Valley High. The scrimmage also featured California and Monte Vista.
San Ramon Valley opens its season at home against Las Lomas on Aug. 29.
