Richard Beasley smiles at his sister Sherri Beasley as he is wheeled into Summit County Common Pleas Judge Lynne S. Callahan's courtroom on Wednesday, Feb 27, 2013, in Akron, Ohio. Beasley is accused of killing three men and wounding a fourth after they replied to phony Craigslist job ads. He faces the death penalty if convicted of the killings that began in August 2012.
The testimony Wednesday at the Akron trial of 53-year-old alleged triggerman Richard Beasley came as prosecutors try to show robbery and identity theft were motives for the attacks. The jury also heard about statements written by the slain men in response to a job posting for a farm caretaker in southeast Ohio.
Beasley has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and kidnapping charges.
His teenage co-defendant was tried separately, convicted and sentenced to life in prison. He has agreed to testify against Beasley.
The defense says there isn't enough evidence to prove Beasley committed the crimes.
