This is "Mother Goose," a Canada goose that has built a nest and raised her goslings on a roof of the Contra Costa Times in Walnut Creek, California, every spring for the last four years. She laid her eggs around Feb. 18 (a guess), they started hatching March 23 and left the nest on March 24.

She has spent most of her time incubating the eggs, preening, standing up and turning the eggs regularly so they stay warm on all sides. When she took a break to eat, she covered her eggs with insulating down feathers and twigs to keep them warm. Have fun!
