OAKLAND -- Shootings in East Oakland and downtown Saturday night left one man dead and five people wounded, police said Sunday after a spate of violence the day before killed two men and injured one more.

The incidents are not related, police said.

The fatal shooting happened about 7 p.m. Saturday in the 9100 block of International Boulevard. Dominic Carter, 19, of San Leandro, who also had ties to Oakland, was killed, police said.

Two 19-year-old men and a 32-year-old woman, all from Oakland, were wounded. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other two men and the woman suffered wounds that were not life-threatening.

Police were trying to determine a motive for the shooting, but they believe the 32-year-old woman, who was waiting for a bus, was an innocent victim of the violence, Officer Angelica Mendoza said.

The downtown shooting, which involved rival gangs, happened at 11:15 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Broadway. Police said dozens of people had left a party at a facility in the 400 block of 14th Street and gone to Broadway. In the 1200 block of Broadway, people with ties to West Oakland drug gangs began exchanging gunfire.

A 19-year-old Richmond man was hit in the arm and a 14-year-old girl, who police believe was an innocent bystander, was wounded in the buttocks. Their wounds were not life-threatening.

pistol recovered from him, police said. The man was interviewed Sunday morning.

It was the third time since August that gunfire had erupted on Broadway. On Aug. 23, a 27-year-old man was shot to death in the 1200 block of Broadway after an argument with another man who later was arrested.

On Oct. 31 nine people were wounded in a shooting at a Halloween party at Sweet's Ballroom, 1933 Broadway. No arrests have been made in that case.

Saturday night's violence came on the heels of three shootings the previous day, which left two people wounded and killed Lamont Smith, a 33-year-old father of two sons. Smith was shot about 8:30 p.m. Friday as he walked in the 1300 block of 65th Avenue, not far from the apartment complex where he lived. He may have been on his way to a store. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Sgt. Sean Fleming said that police are not sure whether Smith was shot by someone in a car or on foot. He said that police have no motive for the killing and that no arrests have been made.

Dozens of people gathered for a vigil around 1 a.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of East 21st Street, mourning the Thursday night killing of Dameon Laramore, 27, who was fatally shot in the 7100 block of Lockwood Street. No arrests have been made in that case.

The site of the vigil was across the street from where Laramore used to live, authorities said.

Mattheaus Moses, 24, of San Leandro, a man who had known Laramore showed up for the vigil and got into an argument with another man in attendance; that man produced a gun and shot the 24-year-old, police said. Moses was taken to a hospital, where he died Sunday. The suspect fled.

Another shooting happened about 10:22 p.m. Friday near the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Seminary Avenue, a commercial area across the street from the Mills College campus.

One man was shot. He was taken to a hospital, where he was in stable condition. Police have no motive or suspects in the shooting.
