CONCORD -- A man was robbed at gunpoint early this morning by someone he contacted through Craigslist to buy an iPhone, police said.

The robbery was reported about 1:10 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Mendocino Drive, said Cpl. James Carroll. The victim met the purported seller, who pulled a gun on him and took his cash.

The robber fled through the apartment complex and was not found. He was described as a black man in his 20s, 6 feet tall with a thin build and mole under one of his eyes, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

No one was injured in the robbery, which renewed warnings from police about exercising caution online.

"Be careful who you talk to through Craigslist," Carroll said.
